"The Rooftop" (Chapter 1). Synopsis: Documents a true experience from his 38-year-old life, specifically on the 1st type of day when he was 38 instead of the 366th, which would make him 39 instead of 38. Garviss seeks a secluded rooftop overlooking the city's nocturnal glow. Plot: As mentioned in the premise, his diary unexplainably slipped out of his hands or the remains of them and ended up on top of his pelvis area, with the casket's geometrically compact air opening the pages, telling those about his life when he was 38 to 49, with Garviss himself as the narrator. Garviss (as the narrator) says there's both a New Year's Day happening for his whole community of alien kind and a birthday (38th) for him, and while aiming to go to a rooftop until morning to see the city from above, something he's never done in his newly 38 years of living, there were a few hassles in doing such, according to him. The city-state’s district was absolute anarchy that night, neon-lit with drunk extraterrestrials celebrating the New Year. Garviss stepped into the chaos, his two-toed split feet stepping around puddles of toxic waste. A rogue gravity bomb detonated nearby, sending a crowd of panicking directly into his path. He miraculously dodged a stray laser blast. He tried to access the premium sky-elevator, but the grey alien doorman was coincidentally racist to Ferfadgians, mocked him, and barred the entrance. Undeterred and completely devoid of spite, Garviss found a grimy trash chute to climb instead. Using just his two fingers, he painstakingly hoists his weight up the shaft while dodging falling debris. He slipped once but pushed forward. He finally crawled onto the cold ledge, gazing out at the breathtaking, endless sprawl, accomplishing his goal.
